Hope Alive Life Skills is coming along hurting people and helping them rise up out of the ashes of their broken lives and soar into a hopfeful tomorrow through education, love and hope.
Hope Alive Life Skills is a place where adults and youth attend gender separate classes to be taught valuable life skills from the "Learning to Live, Learning to Love" curriculum. Whether you are in an abusive relationship, experiencing marriage problems, trying to break patterns of the past, or are a troubled teen, Life Skills can help. Life Skills does not do couple counseling.
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that exists to reach out to the hurting. We want to help individuals break free from behavior that can cause strained, broken, or abusive relationships. We seek to turn negative patterns around and to teach skills to promote growth. We teach individuals the reasons for behaviors without placing guilt or blame, showing each individual dignity and respect as they go through the healing process.
Hope Alive originated from four couples volunteering their time twice a month to a cottage of throwaway boys in a juvenile detention center.
After nine years of mentoring, and instructing these young men, the group realized what the youth were lacking was love, parental instruction and guidance. Many had been a product of childhood trauma.
Also, Patricia Wallace, the founder, began working with a local school district and spent seven years helping students and parents who were in homeless situations. It was this experience that drove her to seek out solutions to problems that was clearly based in modeled family cycle behaviors.
The Life Skills program has answers to restore the person so they can heal from their past and learn to love themselves and those around them.
